What each qualification is
GCSE — the General Certificate of Secondary Education — is the standard qualification taken in schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Cambridge IGCSE sciences often offer Core and Extended tiers, letting students take a route matched to their target grade. Extended is required for the top grades.
